Dividend investment schemes

All of the Northern VCTs offer dividend investment schemes, which enable shareholders to have their dividends automatically re-invested in new shares rather than being paid in cash. There are no dealing costs and the amount re-invested is eligible for up-front income tax relief at the rate currently applicable to new VCT subscriptions. Further details can be found at Northern Venture Trust dividend investment scheme, Northern 2 VCT dividend investment scheme, Northern 3 VCT dividend investment scheme.

Investing in VCT share offers

The three Northern VCTs (Northern Venture Trust PLC, Northern 2 VCT PLC and Northern 3 VCT PLC) have launched a top-up offer of new ordinary shares for subscription in the 2018/19 tax year. The Offer will seek to raise up to £6.6 million (equivalent to €7.4 million at current exchange rates) for each of the Northern VCTs, a total fund-raising of up to £19.8 million and is now open for subscriptions.

Copies of the Stock Exchange announcements made by each of the Northern VCTs on 23 November 2018 in respect of the share offers, along with the offer document and application form, can be found here.

Our funds

An investment in a Venture Capital Trust (“VCT”) carries a higher risk than many other forms of investment. In addition, the value of an investment in a VCT may go down as well as up and investors may not get back the full amount invested, even after taking into account the tax reliefs. VCTs usually trade at a discount to their net asset value. It may be difficult to exit VCTs and they should be considered as long-term investments. The past performance of the Company is not a reliable indicator of its future performance. NVM does not offer investment or tax advice or make recommendations regarding investments. Any application for shares should be made solely on the basis of the Offer Document relating to the Companies.
