NORTHERN INVESTORS COMPANY PLC (‘The Company’)

PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 11 July 2007 it purchased for cancellation under
an existing authority granted by shareholders 15,000 ordinary shares of 25p each
in the market at a price of 222.0p, representing approximately 0.08 per cent of
the Company’s issued ordinary share capital. There remain 19,625,940 ordinary
shares in issue.
