NORTHERN VENTURE TRUST PLC (‘The Company’)

PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 30 March 2007 it purchased for cancellation under
an existing authority granted by shareholders 201,800 ordinary shares of 25p
each in the market at a price of 72.2p, representing approximately 0.52 per cent
of the Company’s issued ordinary share capital. There remain 38,663,612
ordinary shares in issue.
