NORTHERN VENTURE TRUST PLC (‘The Company’)

PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 28 September 2007 it purchased for cancellation
under an existing authority granted by shareholders 171,717 ordinary shares of
25p each in the market at a price of 75.2p, representing approximately 0.45 per
cent of the Company’s issued ordinary share capital. There remain 38,385,905
ordinary shares in issue.
