NORTHERN VENTURE TRUST PLC (‘The Company’)

PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 28 September 2007 it purchased for cancellation
under an existing authority granted by shareholders 17,725 C shares of 75p each
in the market at a price of 83.3p, representing approximately 0.09 per cent of
the Company’s issued C share capital. There remain 20,629,048 C shares in issue.
