NVM Appoints Two New Investors to the North West and Midlands Offices
NVM Private Equity (NVM) continues to expand the VCT team with the addition of Alex Wilson and Stephen Johnson. NVM’s recruitment strategy has been to build on their existing strong regional presence with a growing VCT team to help develop the business in a changed environment by bringing in people with experience in new, fast-emerging technology, finance and life science sectors.
Alex is based in NVM’s Manchester office and is responsible for sourcing, transacting and managing investments in the North West. He has over 12 years’ experience, initially at PwC then at a Manchester based corporate finance boutique. For the past seven years Alex has been advising both privately owned and listed businesses across a range of corporate transactions including fundraisings, trade sales, acquisitions and PE deals in both the UK and cross border. Alex holds a First-class BSc (Hons) degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham.
Stephen is based in NVM’s Birmingham office and is responsible for identifying and transacting investment opportunities across the Midlands, whilst also working with portfolio companies on their continued growth path. He has spent the past nine years working in technology consulting, having completed a graduate scheme with Capgemini before moving onto a role in professional services at data warehousing automation specialist Magnitude. Most recently with data specialist Agile Solutions, he led the delivery of a customer data solution at Dixons Carphone and a customer behaviour analytics solution for Sky’s premium Q product. Prior to this Stephen completed an undergraduate degree in Information Management with Business at Loughborough University.
NVM’s Investment Partner and head of the VCT team, Charlie Winward said: “At NVM we believe there is significant opportunity for our investors to help businesses develop and scale in the North West and Midlands respectively, and that these areas are comparatively underserved given the range of opportunities we see in these regions. We believe that Alex’s extensive experience in the financing market and Stephen’s in operational software deployments will enhance our reach into their communities, and be invaluable in helping our portfolios to grow. I welcome Alex and Stephen to our growing team.”
NVM Private Equity is independently owned with over 30 years’ experience of investing in unquoted UK businesses. NVM is a generalist investor, managing approximately £440 million of funds, and is differentiated by having executives living and working in regional business communities throughout the UK. NVM seeks investment opportunities of between £1 million and £15 million in UK businesses which have the right mix of growth potential and market vision. They may be looking to grow organically, acquire another business or secure a management buy-out. www.nvm.co.uk
